TEHRAN, Nov. 21 (MNA) -- Iran’s Forugh theater troupe will perform the play “Green, Sohrab, Crimson” in Tbilisi, Georgia, next February.

The troupe from Ardebil Province, directed by Majid Vahedizadeh, is to stage the play supported by the Iranian Embassy in Tbilisi, Tbilisi Academy of Theater, and Iran Art and Culture Institute.
Starring Vahedizadeh, Davud Farmani, Samad Vahedizadeh, Yashar Faraji, Mohammadreza Khodaii, and Mohammad Fat’hi, the drama is based on the story of Rostam and Sohrab, the two heroes in Ferdowsi’s Shahnameh.
“Green, Sohrab, Crimson” brought Forugh the Jury Award, the Best Actor Award, the second prize for stage designer, and the third prize for music at the 20th International Fajr Theater Festival in 2001.
The troupe previously staged several performances of a play entitled “An Image of the Dragon” in Tbilisi.
It tells another story from Shahnameh on the evil rule of the Arab Dahhak, or Zohak, who was tempted by Ahriman, his own ancestor.
Forugh had earlier staged the play at the Azerbaijan Republic Theater Festival, which was held from December 14-21.
